I go over my setup as an indie developer working from home.

I’ve been working from home for 4 years now.

Over the time, I’ve been getting new additions for my setup.

Today, I show you my productivity temple.

This week I’m on vacations at the beach, so I open my home for you and you can be my guest 🏖️

Ergonomics and coziness

I wrote about back pain in a previous issue, so you know how much I care about ergonomics and posture health.

That’s why I have an ergonomic chair and a standing desk.

I also don’t want my place to look like a regular office, so I added a rug and some Japanese and Zelda decoration to be comfy in my temple.

Guess what my favorite video games are?

Switching postures

I usually start my days with light work, standing.

Then I alternate between 45’-1h session sit and 15-30min standing up.

The setup looks weird with the desk up 😂

Screen configuration

I’ve tried several monitor configurations: single, ultra wide, triple, dual with vertical 16:9…

Finally I found the perfect balance between having enough real estate and don’t get overwhelmed and losing my focus.

The LG DualUp Ergo is a productivity machine.

I use to stack vertically two 16:9 windows on the vertical monitor

Microphone

I’m creating lately video content for social media either for funny videos or showcasing a product.

It’s quite convenient having a microphone arm always ready.

I don’t know if I’m more a content creator or a developer lately 😜

Keyboards

I have 3 mechanical keyboards and the Magic Keyboard from Apple.

I’m 99% of the time switching between the Keychron Q2 with red switches and the Apple’s one.

When I’m stuck programming I solve the Rubik’s cube

Analog input

Technology is dope, but I always have a notepad and a pen to brainstorm ideas and sketch things.

I also write down quickly the things that I want to complete in the day.

When I visited the Nintendo Store in Osaka, I just burnt my credit card

Dark mode

In winter it’s dark at 5:45 pm so I spend several hours a day working in dark mode.

I added a led strip to the back of the desk and I also have a cheap Ikea lamp to give some ambient.

Last addition

The last addition to my setup is the DeskHub made by a fellow indie hacker, Max Blade.

It’s super motivating having my GitHub contribution graph always displayed.
